Political unity vital in transition: PM

LALITPUR, April 26: Prime Minister Jhala Nath Khanal said since the country has been passing through a complex transition all forces of political change should unite and forge collaboration.



Addressing a function organized by Manamohan Memorial Foundation on the occasion of 12th Memorial Day of Nepal’s first communist Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari in Lalitpur on Tuesday, he said though the transition period is in final phase, efforts to forge unity and collaboration between political parties have not materialized. [break]



The main responsibility at present is to complete the peace process and constitution drafting, he said, adding that the government was committed to institutionalize achievements gained through people’s movements in the past.



On the occasion Chairman of Manamohan Memorial Foundation and Deputy Prime Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari hailed the contributions made by late Adhikari to communist movements and stressed the need of following in his footsteps.



CPN-UML senior leaders Madhav Kumar Nepal and KP Oli, other leaders as well as UML cadres were present in the program.
