Police quick response team launched

KATHMANDU, Jan 30: As part of bolstering security system in the capital, Metropolitan Police Commissioner´s Office (MPCO), Ranipokhari, has launched a Quick Response Team (QRT) on Monday.



Police have equipped the QRT with eight 150cc Bajaj motorcycles and the team will be deployed in security sensitive areas unreachable for police vans. “The Quick Response Team will be deployed at different core areas that are facing security threats and at the places where mobile vans can´t reach immediately whenever required,” said SSP Ravi Raj Shrestha, chief at MPCO, Ranipokhari. The motorcycles given to the QRT team are fitted with sirens while the police personnel in the bike will have handguns and communication sets. There will be two police personnel in each bike, according to police.
