POKHARA, Nov 17: Locals of Pokhara on Saturday called off indefinite relay hunger strike and decided to announce new phase of protests demanding an international-level regional airport in their place.
“We have called off relay hunger strike from Saturday,” Krishna Mohan Shrestha, coordinator of the struggle committee added, “New phase of protests will be launched within few days.” [break]2,402 locals had participated in the hunger strike, Shrestha said.
The government had acquired 3106 ropanis of land at Chhine Danda in 2031 BS, citing for the construction of an international airport.
