KATHMANDU, Nov 7: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has called on new voters to actively participate in the upcoming elections. On Friday, PM Karki urged first-time voters to exercise their conscience responsibly.
In her message, the Prime Minister stated that there are two key tools to fulfil citizens’ aspirations in a democratic society.
The first is the conscience of every citizen — a conscience that guides us towards what is right, refrains from wrongdoing and does not allow wrongdoings.

The second is the official tool to exercise that conscience — the voter ID card. She emphasised that to turn the dreams of Gen Z youth and all Nepalis into reality, citizens must first obtain their voter ID cards and use them wisely to elect the right representatives.
Prime Minister Karki also noted that with these two fundamental tools, individuals can aspire to become the right representatives themselves.
“Let us make proper use of our voting rights to fight existing malpractices and move forward together for the country’s development. Visit your nearest election office and register for a voter ID card today,” her message further stated.
The government has announced March 5 as the date for the upcoming elections. While the government has claimed that all preparations are underway, political parties have criticised it for failing to ensure adequate security arrangements.
