PM Oli calls agitating school teachers for talks

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has agreed to hold talks with the protesting teachers. He has scheduled a meeting for Friday evening at 7 pm. Following the invitation, officials of the Nepal Teachers' Association (NTA) are currently engaged in internal discussions.

KATHMANDU, April 18: The agitating teachers are due to meet with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to hold talks over their demands, including the School Education Bill today. He has scheduled a meeting with the teachers on Friday evening at 7 pm. 


Nepal Teachers' Association (NTA) are said to be engaged in discussions to harmonise their position ahead of the talks with the Prime Minister.

A team led by NTF President Laxmi Kishor Subedi will hold discussions with the Prime Minister. The call for talks comes 15 days after the teachers launched their Kathmandu-centric protests on April 2.


Teachers and staff working in community schools have been demanding immediate passage of the School Education Bill, 2080, which aims to amend the existing laws related to school education. The bill has been registered at the House of Representatives.
