PMO writes to police to probe Twitter account hack  incident

KATHMANDU, March 17: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has formally requested the Police Headquarters to investigate the hacking of the Prime Minister's official Twitter account.

KATHMANDU, March 17: The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has formally requested the Police Headquarters to investigate the hacking of the Prime Minister's official Twitter account.



Addressing the Inspector General of Police, the OPMCM wrote a letter to this effect on Friday. The letter asks Nepal Police Headquarter to submit a detailed study report on how the incident happened and the precautions and measures that needs to be taken to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.

According to the OPMCM, the Twitter account belonging to the PM Office was hacked and "unauthorized” contents were posted through the handle on Thursday. Officials at OPMCM said the hacked Twitter account was brought back into operation on Thursday.


The Office of the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers has written a letter to the Prime Minister's Office to conduct a detailed investigation into the unauthorized entry despite the adoption of  Two Factor Authentication (2FA) and other security measures.
