PM Gilani invites PM to Pakistan

KATHMANDU, April 27: Pakistani Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, who paid an official visit to Nepal from April 26-27, has extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal for a visit to Pakistan.



Gilani was on his way to attend 16th SAARC Summit in Bhutan. The visit was part of the ongoing high level political exchanges and interactions, the Pakistani embassy said in a statement.



The two prime ministers had held official talks and reviewed the whole gamut of bilateral relations on Monday. The leaders agreed to comprehensively upgrade the bilateral relationship and renew efforts to take Pakistan-Nepal relations to the desirable level.



PM Gilani had briefed his counterpart on the achievements of his government in fight against terrorism, developing political consensus for strengthening political institutions and empowering the people. Both leaders also reviewed the regional and global situation.



Gilani also called on President Dr Ram Baran Yadav during his visit and apprised him of the progress on constitutional reforms as well as other developments in Pakistan and the region, the statement added.
