PM directs to control Jajarkot epidemic

KATHMANDU, April 16: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Thursday directed the Ministry of Health to carry out works of treatment and control of outbreak of ‘seasonal flu’ in Jajarkot on war footing.

According to PM’s personal secretariat, PM Koirala summoned Minister of Health and Population Khagaraj Adhikari, Health Secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, Director General at the Department of Health Services Dr Senendra Upreti and Director at Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Baburam Marasini and directed to that effect.


“Send out a team of experts also from the capital to control the epidemic,” PM Koirala directed, “Make sure there is no further loss of lives.”

On the occasion, Minister Adhikari briefed the PM on spread of the disease and attempts made so far to control the epidemic.



Director General Upreti informed that two teams of specialists have been sent to the district from capital after confirmation of the disease being swine flu, adding that health workers have been mobilized under the command of Regional Health Directorate.
