Parties repeat old faces in Ilam

ILAM, Oct 6: Out of total 39 candidates selected by major parties for different constituencies of Ilam district, 20 are in the age group of 40 to 60, and 9 are above 60.



CPN (UML) Party Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, 64, will contest the poll from constituency number 1 of Ilam, former chairman of Constituent Assembly (CA) Subash Chandra Nemwang, 61, will contest from constituency number 2, and Tek Bahadur Rai, 64, will contest from constituency number 3 of the district. Nepali Congress has selected candidates for the district who are below 60. Himal Karmacharya, 58, Bhesh Raj Acharya, 49, and Keshav Thapa, 54, will contest the polls from constituencies 1, 2 and 3, respectively.



However, UCPN (Maoist) has picked two youth candidates for the district. Yub Kumar Paudel and Dhirendra Sharma, who are in their late thirties, will contest the polls from constituency number 1 and 3, respectively. The party has selected Ramesh Kumar Lingden, 51, for constituency number 2 of the district.



Surya Bahadur Thapa-led Rastriya Prajatantra Party has selected an elderly candidate for the district. Bhakta Kumari Gadal, 74, will contest the poll from constituency number 1.
