One held for running forgery racket

KATHMANDU, Sept 11: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the Nepal Police on Monday arrested Shyam Kishor Chaudhary from Anamnagar, Kathmandu for allegedly running a forgery racket.



According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Jagadish Pokharel, a team of CIB arrested Chaudhary on a tip-off after four months of continuous attempts to arrest him. [break]



Chaudhary, 32, originally from Hariharpur-2, Saptari and currently residing in Banasthali, Kathmandu, has been involved in a forgery racket for the past three years. DSP Pokharel said Chaudhary had set up an office near Bagbazaar to forge educational and official documents.



“Preliminary investigation shows that Chaudhary is a member of the racket. We will soon arrest other members of the racket,” DSP Pokharel said.



According to police, Chaudhary charged Rs 5,000 and above for forging documents. Chaudhary has been sent to Metropolitan Police Range Hanuman Dhoka for further investigation.



One held with brown sugar



A squad of Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu on Monday arrested Bikram Tamang aka Bikram Lama, 41, in possession of 30 gm brown sugar, from Gongabu bus park.



According to the police, Tamang had been absconding for almost five years after carrying out a robbery at the main branch of Bank of Kathmandu in Kamal Pokhari in 2007.



Tamang, originally from Darkha-8 of Dhading, and his gang had looted about Rs 400 million from the bank on November 25, 2007.
