KATHMANDU, Feb 20: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to hold high-level political meetings, including with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, in New Delhi on Saturday.

Officials involved with the visit said Oli will remain busy in various meetings and interactions throughout the day.

Besides holding a meeting with Modi at Hyderabad House, Oli is scheduled to call on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Hamid Ansari, and various other leaders and top officials in the Indian capital.

Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj will call on Oli at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, where Oli is staying, at 11 am.

After that, the two prime ministers -- Oli and Modi -- will hold a one-on-one meeting at Hyderabad House and they will subsequently lead bilateral talks there.

After lunch at Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Oli will interact with various Indian ministers and top officials at the same place, said an official at the Embassy of Nepal in New Delhi.

The prime minister is scheduled to call on Indian President Mukherjee at 6 pm at the latter's office. Before that, he will call on Indian Vice-President Hamid Ansari at 5 pm.

Oli embarked on his six-day state visit to India on Friday at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Modi.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Kamal Thapa, Home Minister Shakti Basnet, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, the prime minister's aides, lawmakers and representatives from various political parties are in the visiting team.

President Bidyadevi Bhandari has authorized Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Bijay Gachchhadar, to look after the prime minister's day-to-day responsibilities during Oli's visit to India.

Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj received Oli upon his arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport earlier in the evening.

Oli then went directly to Rashtrapati Bhawan. Oli and his spouse Radhika Shakya are staying at the Bhawan during their visit to Delhi.

The prime minister attended a function organized by the Nepali embassy to mark Democracy Day, in the evening.

After concluding the meetings and interactions in Delhi, the prime minister will go to Uttarahakhand to view the Tehri Dam.

The visiting team will go on to Modi's home state of Gujarat to observe reconstruction work carried out following the devastating earthquake there in 2001.

Oli will also go to Mumbai, India's financial capital, to address a gathering of Indian investors there.

Oli on Thursday had said that he would make it clear to Indian investors that Nepal is fostering an investment friendly environment.

He had also said that his major priority would be to improve bilateral relations with India that have soured in recent months.

He said he wouldn't reach any deal of possible long-term significance and would avoid any agreement that may court controversy in the country.
