KATHMANDU, August 2: MP Gajendra Bahadur Mahat of the ruling party CPN (Maoist Centre) has demanded a bill on oath-taking in which the same word is uttered even when in power and in the opposition. He said this while speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.

He targeted the chairman of the main opposition party, CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and said that it is necessary to bring the oath-taking bill by validating and applying what the constitution says.

He said that former Prime Minister Oli did not pronounce the words said by President Bidya Devi Bhandari while taking the oath and said that the bill should be passed by pronouncing the same word from Parliament. He asked to bring the bill without becoming a subject of humor as the oath is related to the morals and customs of the people.

He said, 'There is a matter of oath. One oath is taken when in power and another when in opposition. This thing is also related to the morals of a person and culture. It became a big joke when our honorable Prime Minister was sworn in earlier. What we need to do now is to pass the oath here. Let's be careful about these things, we don't want to become characters of comedy."
