KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The general convention of the Non Resident Nepali (NRN) Association has kicked off here in Kathmandu on Wednesday. The convention will elect its new office bearers and members for two years.
As many as 1,000 voters have registered their names by Wednesday afternoon in the voters' list. The process of registration of their names is still underway.

Three candidates have filed their candidacies for the post of president. The existing president Shesh Ghale has filed nomination form for the second time.
Similarly, TB Karki and Ratan Jha have also filed their candidacy for the president's post.
NRN vice president has filed his nomination form for the post of vice president for the second time. The other candidates registering their nomination forms for the same post are Kumar Panta, Lakshya Bahadur Gurung and Khagendra GC.
Similarly, Pushpa Raj Timalsina has filed his candidacy for the post of general secretary. Others fighting for the same post include Dr. Badra KC, Pushpa Thapa and Ranju.
Surendra Shrestha, Arjun Shrestha have registered their candidacies for the post secretary. Ganesh KC, Santosh Bhattarai have also registered their names for the same post.
Likewise, Hikmat Thapa, Chiranjibi Thapa and Trilok Gurung have filed their candidacies for the post of treasure.
It is expected that t he voting will take place tomorrow while closed session will start from Friday.
