NOC team off to China to discuss fuel import

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: A delegation of the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has today left here for China to hold discussions regarding the issue of importing fuels from China.

Similarly, preparations were underway to send another team headed by a high-ranking official of the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies to sign the trade deal once the delegation held discussions with the Chinese side regarding technical issues for fuels import.


The delegation comprises Deputy Executive Director of NOC, Sushil Bhattarai, and Director Deepak Baral. Nepal has already signed a preliminary agreement with Petro China, the government company of China, to import the petroleum products from China.

The government has sent the NOC officials to China in the first phase after the final conclusion was not drawn regarding local tax and different complexities that could surface during import of fuel although process of fuel import was forwarded as per the preliminary deal.

NOC Spokesperson, Mukunda Ghimire, said that the delegation would hold significant discussion with Chinese officials regarding the matter of import of petrol, diesel, kerosene oil, aviation fuel and cooking gas.

Minister for Commerce and Supplies, Ganeshman Pun, who had gone for China visit few days ago, had discussed with Chinese officials and China was ready to provide fuel to Nepal.

Nepalese Ambassador to China, Maheshman Maskey, will lead the delegation in China. RSS
