KATHMANDU, Feb 8: Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has claimed that no documents were burned during the fire at the Ministry of Water Supply in Singha Durbar on Saturday.
Earlier, police reported that some documents in the ministry had been burned. Speaking to the media, Minister Yadav stated that he smelled the odor of a burnt electrical wire pole on Friday and alerted his office staff. Although he initially suspected the water heating machine, the fire broke out on Saturday. He mentioned that the police investigation would determine the cause and added that two televisions, one computer, a desktop, a water heating machine, a table, a sofa, chairs, and a carpet were damaged. However, he assured that no essential documents were harmed.

Minister Yadav suggested that an electrical short circuit might have caused the fire. He added that the police are currently investigating the incident. Firefighters have brought the fire at the Ministry of Water Supply under control. The fire broke out in Minister Pradeep Yadav's office on Saturday morning. It started suddenly but has now been extinguished.
Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Deepak Khadka, who visited the Ministry of Water Supply, also suggested that an electrical short circuit might have caused the fire. He confirmed that the fire had been brought under control and that an investigation is ongoing to determine whether the cause was an electrical short circuit or something else.
He added that authorities would conduct a thorough inspection of the building's entire electrical wiring.
