KATHMANDU, March 30: Former King Gyanendra has refused to accept a Kathmandu Metropolis letter demanding that he pay a fine of Rs 793,000 in penalty for the damage and litters last Friday in and around the protest hotspot of Tinkune.
The Metropolis letter was issued on Sunday after assessing the damage and during Friday’s violent protests by ex-king’s supporters, in which two persons were killed.
KMC dispatched fine notice to Nirmal Niwas via post

The ex-monarch is accused of instigating the protests.
On Sunday, a team from the KMC police went to Nirmal Niwas - the ex-king’s private residence - to hand-deliver the letter. However, they were turned back at the gate by the security personnel and staff there.
During the pro-monarchy protest on Friday, there was vandalism and arson in areas like Tinkune and Koteshwor. The KMC imposed a fine based on the Kathmandu Metropolitan Environment and Natural Resource Conservation Act, 2077 BS and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City's Financial Act.
