KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The stock market rose for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. The NEPSE index gained 9.93 points to close at 2,649.30 points. Except for the hotel and tourism, and manufacturing and processing sub-indices, all other sub-groups contributed to the market’s rise.
The finance sub-index recorded the highest gain, rising by 2.87 percent. Investors of 148 companies made gains during the session. Shares of Jeevan Bikas Laghubitta hit a positive circuit.

Meanwhile, investors of 103 companies incurred losses. Ruru Jalbidhyut Company saw the biggest decline, with its share price falling by 8.41 percent.
Along with the index, trading volume also increased on Tuesday. A total of Rs 7.12 billion worth of shares were traded, the highest daily turnover in the past two months. Previously, the highest turnover was recorded on November 2, when shares worth Rs 9.20 billion were traded.
Shares of SY Panel Nepal recorded the highest turnover of the day at Rs 248.8 million.
Butwal Power Company followed with Rs 236.7 million worth of shares traded, while Shivam Cement saw transactions worth Rs 234.7 million.
