Nepse loses 2.87 points

KATHMANDU, March 17: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index declined for the fourth straight day on Wednesday, with the benchmark index losing 2.87 points to settle at 477.62 points.



Decline in the sub-indices of all major trading groups dragged the Nepse index down on the day. The sub-indices of Banking and Development Bank group lost 2.18 points and 5.12 points to close at 503.51 points and 474.74 points respectively. [break]



Similarly, Finance, Insurance and Others groups also saw their saw-indices drop to 474.74 points, 572.32 points and 534.6 points, losing 2.71 points, 4.57 points and 5.88 points respectively.



However, Hydropower group gained 1.55 points to close at 756.6 points, thanks to rise in share prices of National Hydropower and Chilime Hydropower.



A total of 61,635 unit shares and 60 scrips worth Rs 30.63 million changed hands through 1,958 transactions on Wednesday. Total market capitalization - total value of listed shares - stood at Rs 369.48 billion.
