KATHMANDU, May 19: Nepal Telecom's profit has dropped by 48.6 percent. In the first nine months of the current Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25, the company recorded a net profit of Rs 2.84 billion.
During the same period last year, the profit was Rs 5.53 billion. The decline in profit is mainly due to a drop in total revenue, especially from interest income.
Nepal Telecom, which had invested a large amount in deposits, saw its interest income fall by 46 percent. Last year, the company earned Rs 5.19 billion in interest income, but this year it has decreased to Rs 2.80 billion.

Along with the decline in profit, Nepal Telecom's earnings per share (EPS) have also dropped. The annual EPS has shrunk to just Rs 21.05, compared to Rs 41 in the previous year.
