Nepal ranks 92nd as Finland ranks happiest country in world

Finland has been ranked the happiest country in the world for the eighth consecutive time. In this ranking of 147 countries, Nepal holds the 92nd position, while India is ranked 118th.

KATHMANDU, March 20: Finland has been ranked the happiest country in the world for the eighth consecutive time. In this ranking of 147 countries, Nepal holds the 92nd position, while India is ranked 118th.


According to the World Happiness Report 2025, published by the Oxford University Wellbeing Research Centre, happiness is not solely determined by economic development but also plays a significant role in mutual trust and social relationships among people.

According to the report, other Nordic countries also hold top positions in the happiness ranking once again. Apart from Finland, Denmark, Iceland, and Sweden are ranked in the top four.


The US has reached its lowest ever position at 24th place in this ranking. Previously, the US was ranked 11th in 2012. Despite the ongoing conflict with Hamas, Israel ranks 8th. Costa Rica and Mexico have entered the top 10 happiest countries for the first time, securing 6th and 10th positions, respectively. 


Afghanistan, at the bottom of the list in 147th place, is once again the least happy country. The five countries with the lowest happiness rankings are Sierra Leone with 146th, Lebanon with 145th, Malawi with 144th, and Zimbabwe with 143rd.
