KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Nepal lost to Malaysia by three runs in the opening match of the International Women’s T20 Series.
In the match played today at Bayumas Oval in Malaysia, Nepal, chasing a target of 105 runs, managed to score only 101 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. For Nepal, Puja Mahato top-scored with 30 runs off 29 balls, while Samjhana Khadka added 18 runs off 16 balls and Kabita Joshi contributed 13 runs. For Malaysia, Nur Dania took three wickets.

Earlier, opting to bat first after winning the toss, Malaysia posted 104 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Captain Winifred Duraisingam scored the highest with 27 runs, while opener Ainna Hamizah Hashim made 26 and Mas Elysa added 25.
For Nepal, Suman Bista claimed two wickets, while Rubina Chhetri picked up one.
The Nepali women’s team is preparing for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, scheduled to be held in Nepal this January. The ongoing series is part of their preparation for the tournament.
