KATHMANDU, June 17: The Nepal Men’s National Cricket Team beat Scotland by two wickets in a low-score third match of the Tri-Nation T20I series held at Scotland on Tuesday.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, Nepal bundled out Scotland at meagre 97 runs with two balls remaining in the first inning. By the end of the first powerplay, Nepal had already inflicted irreparable damage to Scotland’s batting order by taking five wickets.

Nepal’s spin-bowling talisman Sandeep Lamichhane displayed his mastery of the ball for the second consecutive day as he claimed four wickets in his allotted four overs conceding miserly at an economy of 2.75 runs per over and even bowling a maiden over. Dipendra Singh Airee and Karan KC claimed two wickets apiece while Lalit Rajbanshi also took a wicket.
Scotland’s highest run contributor for the match Michael Leask scored 46 runs off 46 balls with four fours and a six. Captain Matthew Cross contributed 15 runs off 22 balls while Brandon McMullen scored 10 runs off 12 balls.
Nepal registered a wobbly start to the run chase losing the wicket of Lokesh Bam and Anil Sah in the first four overs. However, opener Kushal Bhurtel stabilized the inning with his knock of 30 runs off 35 balls including four fours. Aerie scored 14 runs off 21 balls while Basir Ahamad scored 13 runs off 14 balls.
The match was stretched to the final over as Nepal struggled to accumulate sufficient runs. The Cardiac Kids caused a scare in the over after Kiran Thagunna was dismissed in the fourth delivery having tied up the game. Lamichhane scored a run in the penultimate delivery to win the match for Nepal. He was adjudged to be the man of the match for his succulent bowling spell.
