NEA to be blamed for increase in explosion of transformers: CIAA

KATHMANDU, Jan 23: Glitches in electricity distribution system that falls under the responsibility of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) is actually what is increasing explosion of transformers in the Capital, said a study carried out by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).

The CIAA acted after forming a task force, following complaints of increasing explosion of transformers, interrupted supply of electricity, half voltage and the delay in the maintenance or repair of broken down transformers, wires and other equipments among others.


The study was conducted in 10 locations in the valley.

According to available data, in the past six months along, the total 406 transformers were exploded in the valley and 3,888 aerial bundled cables damaged due to overuse of electricity, following Indian unofficial border blockade. RSS
