NEA chief engineer arrested for Rs 140,000 bribe

The CIAA said it is carrying out further investigations into the case.

KATHMANDU, April 7: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) arrested Mahendra Kumar Das, chief engineer at the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) Distribution Center in Kanchanpur, Saptari, for allegedly taking a Rs 140,000 bribe.

According to the CIAA, Das demanded the bribe from a service seeker to install a transformer and provide a power line connection for a charging station. Investigators apprehended him in Hanumannagar Kankalini.


The CIAA said it is carrying out further investigations into the case.
