KATHMANDU, Feb 13: Ncell has launched Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) service to provide quality voice calling services to its customers over WiFi internet. Ncell has launched this service as part of its continuous efforts to ensure access to new technologies for the general public.

This service enables customers to make clear HD voice calls, receive incoming calls, and exchange SMS using any reliable Wi-Fi internet connection. VoWiFi service, also known as WiFi calling, can be used to access services in places with weak mobile network signals, such as homes or basements of large buildings, and even in remote locations. Currently, Ncell's service is available on iPhone 8 and above iPhone models in its initial phase.

The special feature of this service is that there is no additional charge to avail the service. Customers can avail this service at the same cost as their existing voice and SMS services and stay connected by taking advantage of the expanded network coverage even in areas with weak mobile networks.

Just as 4G is required for Voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) services, VoWiFi requires a reliable Wi-Fi connection. A key feature of this technology is that it automatically switches from VoWiFi to the mobile network when you reach a mobile network while talking in areas with weak mobile networks.

Ncell has announced that VoWiFi has been launched as a complementary technology to 4G to provide services to customers even in places where mobile network problems exist, such as indoors or basements. Ncell plans to soon expand this service to other brands and models including Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo.

It aims to provide services to more consumers. Ncell has already expanded its 4G network to cover 94 percent of the country's population, making it easy to use both VoLTE and VoWiFi services.

Customers with mobile sets that support VoWiFi service need to download the Ncell app and activate the service through the app. After that, the customer can enjoy the benefits of VoWiFi service through any reliable Wi-Fi.
