Ncell condemns attack on its BTS

KATHMANDU, june 12: Ncell has condemned the recent attack on its base transceiver stations (BTS).

Unidentified groups had set 24 Ncell BTs on fire which damaged elements of telecommunications infrastructure in Salyan, Dang, Kaski, Jhapa, Myagdi, Dhankua, Morang, Baglung and Gorkha districts. Issuing a statement, Ncell said the infrastructures had been catering to basic and emergency communications need of the people living in rural areas of those districts and the damage has directly affected about 550,000 customers in rural parts of those districts.   


“We urge all concerned to respect fellow citizens' rights to communicate and stop attacks on Ncell BTS. Attacks on critical infrastructure that serving people with highly essential communications services is a unlawful and serious offence.” said Mahendra Bhattachan, security director of Ncell, said.
