KATHMANDU, Nov 22: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Prakash Man Singh has been elected as a member of House of Representatives (HoR) from Kathmandu 1. He defeated his nearest rival Rabindra Mishra of Rastriya Prajatantra Party by a thin margin of 125 votes.
While Singh secured 7,143 votes, his nearest rival Mishra got 7018 votes. Singh had defeated Mishra in the previous election of HoR election held in 2017. Back then, Singh had defeated Mishra with around 800 votes.

In the same constituency, Pukar Bam of Rastriya Swatantra Party secured 4,195 votes, while CPN-UML's Kiran Poudel got 3,532 votes. Similarly, Ramesh Kharel of Sushasan Party got 3,124 votes. NC leader Singh seems to been benefitted as independent candidates, who fielded their candidacy for change, could not stand together in the election.
With this, NC has already secured victory in three constituencies of HoR so far. Earlier, NC candidates Yogesh Gauchan Thakali from Mustang and Tek Bahadur Gurung from Manang secured victory as the members of HoR.
