The meeting also decided to delegate authority to party President Girija Prasad Koirala to nominate the party´s representatives in the government.
Following the CWC meeting in the morning the parliamentary party met later in the day and endorsed the CWC decision to join the government. Speaking at the parliamentary party meeting, party leaders said the party should maintain a balance in terms of gender, region and caste while sending its representatives into the cabinet.
During a CWC meeting on Friday, some of the leaders had opposed the party joining the government, arguing that it should support the government from outside.
Who will lead the NC in the government is still a matter of speculation but a senior NC leader close to party President Koirala said it will be one of three-- NC Vice President Ram Chandra Poudel, Prakash Man Singh or General Secretary Bimalendra Nidhi.
He said the party president hasn´t decided the names of the ministers and he will do so only after the NC and UML agree on the ministries that will fall in the NC´s share.
The two parties are yet to decide on the division of ministries though the UML has told the NC that it would keep the Home and Finance Ministries. “The two parties will sit and decide on the division of cabinet berths by tomorrow,” he said, adding, “I don´t think the two parties will have any substantial difference over cabinet formation.”
