Natural disaster claims 5 in Tanaun

POKHARA, May 20: Five people were killed in a natural disaster in Tanahun district on Tuesday night.

According to SP Mohan Kumar Acharya, three people died after being struck by lightning and two others died after a boulder triggered by landslide hit them.


Those killed by lightning are identified as Hasta Bahadur Thapa, 37 and Jharimaya Thapa, 41 of Kotdurbar VDC-6.

Similarly, one Min Bahadur Gurung of Bandipur-7 was electrocuted to death while he was trying to douse fire caused by lighting. The meter-box had caught fire after it was hit by lightning.

Likewise, two motorcycle-born youths, who were heading to Mungling at night, were struck by a boulder falling from above at Bansdanda along Abukhaireni-Mugling road section.

Of the three, Ganesh Thapa, 15 and Bhakta Bahadur Thapa, 16 of Abukhaireni-8 died on the spot while Manoj Gurung, 22 sustained injuries. Injured Gurung is undering treatment.
