Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) had organized the fair to promote the lake city as the hub for education, medical services, agriculture and tourism. The 11-day fair attracted more than 250,000 visitors, according to the organizers.[break]
In the closing ceremony, the PCCI awarded best stalls representing different sectors. Nepal Telecom won the best stall award on the basis of evaluation on seven different categories. The state-owned telecom operator had deployed BTS van in the venue to ensure smooth telecommunication service for visitors in the fair.
Likewise, Himalaya Auto World, Star Trade Concern, Pradhan Sweater Udhyog, Pushpanjali Flower Nursery, Paschimanchal Regional Police Office, RL Enterprises from Chinese Pavilion and Thakali Bhancha Ghar won the best stall awards in their respective sectors. The fair had a total of 272 stalls.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Suraj Vaidya, president of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries, blamed the political parties for disturbing country´s economic development. “The private sector likes to see the government that can hold election within six months and has clear agenda for the country´s development,” added Vaidya. He also said Nepal is not getting fresh investment because of worsening investment climate in the country.
“Many people are leaving for greener pastures abroad because of the Lack of employment opportunities in the country,” he added.
