“My first priority will be the Sixth National Games and the next one is the 12th South Asian games (SAG),” said Roka. She also asked leaders different sports authorities to stop running organizations in their personal interest.

Roka is the third minister from UCPN (Maoist) in the last six months. Hitman Tamang and Onsari Gharti Magar were Roka´s predecessors.

National Sports Council (NSC) Member Secretary Yuvraj Lama, briefing the minister about the activities of the NSC, said, “We are bringing ad-hoc committees of different national associations under the legal framework. We are also preparing for the Sixth National Games,” said Lama.

Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Shree Ram Pant, said that the upcoming two years are significant for the Nepali sports because the Sixth National Games, London Olympics and the 12th South Asian Games are nearing, and the government has agreed, in principle, to host the 13th South Asian Games in Nepal.
