MADHYABINDU (NAWALPARASI), May 30: Floodwaters have washed away diversions at Chormara and Dumkibas along the Narayanghat-Butwal road section in Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), completely halting vehicular movement.
Superintendent of Police Yadav Dhakal of the District Police Office, Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta East), said the floods swept away the alternative routes constructed at Chormara and Dumkibas along the East-West Highway, bringing all traffic to a standstill.
Dumre-Besisahar road blocked again
After bridges at Chormara and Dumkibas collapsed earlier, authorities had built diversions to maintain the transport flow. However, Thursday night's rainfall washed away the diversions. Authorities have now started constructing new alternative routes.
Hundreds of passengers have been stranded in the Chormara and Dumkibas areas due to the disruption.
The Chormara bridge collapsed on May 11 (Baisakh 29), and the Dumkibas bridge collapsed on January 10 (Poush 26). Since then, vehicles have been operating via temporary diversions built across the river.
