Namche Border Office without officers for 4 months

SOLUKHUMBU , Sept 21: Namche based Border Administrative Office (BAO) located in the North of Solukhumbu district has remained closed for the last four months following the transfer of some officials working at the office.



BAO, which is also the branch office of the District Administration Office, has ceased to offer services to public as it remains without a section officer, assistant accountant and office assistant. [break]



Locals of the area are now forced to walk four days to Salleri, the headquarters of Solukhumbu, for all passport and citizenship related works.



“I had conveyed the problem to the home ministry but we have yet to get any help,” said Chief District Officer Bhawani Prasad Parajuli. “Locals are left with no options but travel to the headquarters for all their official works.”



Besides renewal of passports and citizenships, the border office was also responsible for renewing identity cards to Tibetan refugees.
