NAC launches Kathmandu-Dammam commercial flights

KATHMANDU, Sep 8: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has launched commercial flights on the Kathmandu-Dammam route. This development comes after previous unsuccessful attempts to operate flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

KATHMANDU, Sep 8: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has launched commercial flights on the Kathmandu-Dammam route. This development comes after previous unsuccessful attempts to operate flights to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.


The corporation, which incurred a loss of Rs 260 million over 15 months due to low passenger numbers on the Riyadh route, experienced a notable increase in passengers for its Dammam flights on the very first day of operation.

NAC Spokesperson Ramesh Paudel reported that 126 passengers departed from Kathmandu on the inaugural Dammam flight, which took off at 10:40 PM on Wednesday. Additionally, 117 passengers arrived in Kathmandu from Dammam on Thursday aboard the NAC's narrow-body aircraft with the call sign 9N-AKW.


NAC is scheduled to conduct two weekly flights to Dammam on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The airline has plans to expand its flight frequency in response to growing passenger demand. The initial fare for this destination starts at Rs 35,000.
