MPRF has called a two-day CC meeting for Thursday to discuss contemporary political issues and the party´s strategy.
“I am preparing to present a proposal at the CC demanding that the party withdraw support as the government has failed to fulfilled its commitments on various issues,” MPRF´s Abhishek Pratap Shah told Republica.
Shah added that he has been in consultations with other central committee members in this regard.
When asked what their feedbacks to his proposal were, Shah said, “They (central committee members) are very positive about questioning the rationale of supporting the present government.”
Another central leader Mohammed Istiyak Rai said MPRF is likely to withdraw its support. “The government has failed to make substantial progress on the twin tasks of peace process and constitution writing,” Rai said.
MPRF Treasurer Renu Kumari Yadav, who is close to party chairman Upendra Yadav said that the party may rethink its support to the government. She also said the government´s failure to expedite the peace process and constitution writing has forced her to question the rationale of the party´s support to the government.
A political committee meeting of MPRF on Wednesday will finalize the agendas for the 42-member CC meeting.
“Withdrawal of the party´s support to the government will be also in the agenda of the CC,” Arjun Bahadur Thapa, a political committee member, told Republica.
