“Our possibility of joining the government is decreasing as they have neither been able to come up with a common minimum program nor have been able to give a full shape to the cabinet for such a long time,” Yadav said.[break]
Besides signing a four-point agreement with MPRF, the prime minister has already agreed to allocate four ministries to the second largest Madhes-based party. But the intra-party conflict in the Maoist party has prevented the prime minister from giving a final shape to his over two-month old cabinet.
“Now the government has become directionless. How can we join the government in this situation? MPRF wants to join the government only if it can ensure that the peace process will be concluded and constitution drafted on time. If there is no progress on both the fronts, there will be no reason for MPRF to join the government,” Yadav said talking to Republica Sunday evening.
Yadav said that his party is assessing the current situation and will take a decision whether or not to join the government very soon.
Accusing Dahal and Khanal of not working toward forging national consensus in the spirit of the four-point agreement, Yadav said, “The main obstacle for Nepali Congress to join the present government is the seven-point deal between them [Khanal and Dahal]. But they have not been able to move forward to address that obstacle.”
He further added that Khanal and Dahal have not taken initiatives to implement the four-point agreement, address Madhesi issues, and form a national consensus government and high-level political mechanism. "Though a taskforce has been formed to prepare terms and reference of a high-level political mechanism, we have no representation in it,” Yadav said expressing dissatisfaction.
