Health ministry issues circular to provide healthcare workers' salaries via banking system

The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has issued a circular to subordinate bodies to provide minimum wages and service perks to nurses and healthcare workers working at health institutions.

KATHMANDU, Dec 18: The Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) has issued a circular to subordinate bodies to provide minimum wages and service perks to nurses and healthcare workers working at health institutions.



Dr Rajkumar Pandey, the chief of the MoHP's Quality Standard and Regulation Division, issued the circular making correspondence with government hospitals, medical colleges, and all community and private hospitals to ensure the provision of minimum nursing service wages and perks and benefits. Dr Pandey stated that the circular was issued following complaints regarding the wages for nursing services.

He also said that the ministry has directed the arrangement of additional allowances for work beyond the designated hours. The ministry has also instructed hospitals to ensure that health and educational institutions engage employees through contracts (appointment agreements), prohibit wage labor, and not keep original educational certificates at the office.


The ministry has also issued a directive stating that after completing such work, experience certificates should be provided, and the salaries of nursing and other healthcare workers should only be disbursed through the banking system.
