JAJARKOT, Oct 14: With check posts opening up gradually along the India-Nepal border side, movement of people leaving for home during Dashain festival has started to gain momentum. Several groups of migrant workers in India returned home to Jajarkot on Tuesday.

Immediately after the appointment of CPN-UML leader of KP Oli as the Prime Minister of Nepal, border side check points have begun to open. The supply of petroleum products and goods to Nepal has also been eased after more than two weeks of continuous blockade.According to border police check post, the flow of migrant workers coming to Nepal has increased over the days. Most of the returning workers are the locals of Kathmandu, Nepalgunj and Rasuwa.

"Until Monday, not more than two buses were entering Jajarkot headquarter. But from Tuesday onwards more than 20 public buses and half a dozen private buses have already reached Jajarkot. This is a good sign as people are able to celebrate this festival with much joy and happiness," said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Dhan Bahadur Malla. He believes that more than 2,000 locals have already reached Jajarkot from India in the last few days.

Local journalist Rajendra Karki said over 5,000 Nepalis from Jajarkot are currently working and studying in various parts of India. "As the situation is easing off gradually, many Nepalis reluctant to return home earlier have been changing their minds. Some of them are coming back after a gap of many years," said Karki.

Padam Bahadur Oli is among those thousands who have returned Nepal after a long gap. Oli was working at Kalapahad of India. After reaching Jajarkot on Tuesday he wishes to celebrate this year's Dashain with a blast.

"It's not only me, but many other friends of mine are coming home to meet their families. This year's celebration will be a huge one," said Oli.

Similar was the response of Milan Karki of Bheri Municipality Area, Ward-4. He had reached Jajarkot on Tuesday evening. "The lifting of blockade has been a huge relief for us. Now I can visit my family and celebrate Dashain to the fullest," said Karki.
