In a statement, the human rights NGO which has its own representatives across the country, said the opposition party and its political wings captured land in Tanahun (3,500 ropanis), Palpa (110 ropanies), Nawalparasi (92 ropanies), Kapilvastu (45 bighas), Bara (30 bighas), Sunsari (1 bigha 18 kathha), Kanchanpur (52 bighas), Morang (4 bighas nine kattha), Jhapa (five bighas five kattha), Banke (900 bighas) and Kavre (402 ropanis).
INSEC´s Chairperson Subodh Pyakurel said the Maoist act violated the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and existing laws.
“We condemn such activities as they will adversely affect the peace process,” Pyakurel said in the statement.
The human rights NGO has also reminded the Maoist party of its commitments in the 12-point agreement, code of conduct on ceasefire, eight-point agreement and the commitment of Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal in the parliament to return the seized property when he was prime minister last year.
“We ask the UCPN (Maoist) to live up to the agreements of different time and its commitment made over different time by stopping land grab drive,” the statement reads.
