Addressing a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal in Baglung, Chairman Khanal, however, said that the ongoing protests would eventually lead the country toward consensus. “The possibility of reaching consensus is over. We will make the government bow to our protests,” he said. [break]
Khanal said since the country is already headed for fresh protests, the ongoing stir of the opposition parties will find a solution to the current political deadlock.
“We have already taken to the streets. The ongoing agitation will find a solution to the problem,” he said while accusing the UCPN (Maoist) of dissolving the CA even though there was a possibility of promulgating the constitution to create constitutional vacuum in the country.
Alleging that the Maoists were for creating a complete constitutional vacuum in the country, Khanal claimed the Maoists are now conspiring to render the Supreme Court defunct. “The government is moving toward totalitarianism. It is not concerned even as the Supreme Court, Election Commission and other constitutional bodies are falling vacant,” he said.
Khanal added that the UCPN (Maoist) and the ruling Madhesi-based parties were solely to be blamed for the ongoing political deadlock. He alleged that Maoists were trying to prolong their stay in powers on various pretext. Khanal also said that current government was involved in massive corruption.
“They are looting the state coffers. This has tarnished the image of all the communist parties,” he said.
On a separate context, Khanal said the remark of Maoist Chairman Dahal to tear away all past accords was utterly irresponsible. “We won´t let the Maoists tear those agreements,” he said.
