“He was not arrested till date despite a complaint lodged against him way back in 2007,” DSP KC said.
“We have arrested him to convey the message that everybody is subject to law of the land,” DSP KC added. Miya´s was the 14th arrest of absconding criminals in the past two months while cases have been filed against 116 accused during the period as Parsa Police has cracked its whip on criminals under Superintendent of Police (SP) Ramesh Kharel.
Miya has been remanded in judicial custody for five days by the court later on Tuesday. The arrest of Miya at a time when a Maoist leader is heading the Home Ministry has lifted the morale of the common people. “The arrest of Miya, who was not touched for five years, has boosted the trust of people in police,” opined Ritesh Tripathi, a human rights activist.
Miya, who has changed political affiliation depending on convenience in the past, had joined Maoists in presence of Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal two years ago.
