PARBAT, Nov 11: A man in Modi Rural Municipality–6, Darak, killed his wife on the same day he was released from custody.
According to police, 51-year-old Jit Bahadur BK assaulted his wife Sita BK, 52, on Monday night, leaving her critically injured. She was rescued by police and taken to the Provincial Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead. She had sustained injuries to her head and face.

After the assault, Sita’s daughter-in-law, Shova BK, immediately informed the Deupur Police Post. A team from the police post and the District Police Office reached the scene and arrested Jit Bahadur.
Locals had already restrained him and kept him under control before police arrived, Inspector Sudip Bhandari said. Jit Bahadur had been released on the same day after posting bail in a marital rape case. His bail had been paid by his wife, Sita. Police said he attacked her shortly after dinner upon returning home.
The couple’s three sons are working abroad and four family members—including the daughter-in-law—were living in the house. Police said further investigation is currently underway.
