“We arrested Tamang as we found a plastic bag containing 29 kg of red sandalwood inside his car,” according to a press statement issued by Metropolitan Police Range, Hanumandhoka. [break]
Tamang, 32, who hails from Sindhupalchowk, is a resident of Boudha and was driving a Toyota car with registration number BA 1 Cha 7556.
Meanwhile, 10 people who were staging hunger strike against fuel price hike in front of the Constituent Assembly building have been detained by the police.
Ram Rawal, Bishuram Thapa, Roshan Ghimire, Prajwol Nepal, Uchit Poudel, Niraj Dahal, Charchit Nagila, Santosh Bhandari, Bikash Poudel and Bijay Poudel were on hunger strike and had threatened self immolation, according to police.
