The deceased has been identified as Nabaraj Bhattarai, 39, of Pahalmanpur in the district. He died while undergoing treatment at Attariya-based Padma Hospital, said police.The accident took place when an Indian number plated vehicle (UP 32 CD 4988) heading toward the east from west hit a motorcycle (Se 3 Pa 8508) that Bhattarai was riding at Chaumala-9 at around 8:30 pm.
Pillion rider Puran Bahadur Budha, 31, of Ramshikhjhala was critically injured in the accident.
Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Attariya, Balram Bista, said that seriously injured Bhattarai died on the same night.
Police have arrested the car driver, who was at large after the incident, from the jungle on the same night and the impounded the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Pahalmanpur market remains closed today to mourn the demise of Bhattarai, who was a local businessman. RSS
