Madhesi parties holding rallies

KATHMANDU, April 26: The United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), an alliance of three Madhesi parties, has announced six mass gatherings in different cities in the Tarai starting May 7, to "make" people aware about the stalemate in constitution writing and peace process.



Expressing their concern over "directionless peace process and constitution writing process" Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (Democratic), Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) and Sadbhawana Party have accused top leaders of major parties of deliberately trying to derail the peace process and constitution writing. They said the mass gatherings will unite the Madhesi people to press the demand for autonomous Madhes state with right to self-determination, federal democratic republic, peace and constitution. The mass meetings will be organized in Biratnagar, Janakpur, Kanchanpur, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Birgunj.



The Madhesi prties have also threatened protests if needed to achieve their political goals.
