RAUTAHAT, March 13: Prominent leaders of the Madhes-based parties including Chairman of Terai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Mahantha Thakur, Federal Socialist Forum Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and senior TMDP leader Hridayesh Thripathi have left for India Sunday morning.
They left for New Delhi via a flight of Nepal Airlines at 9 this morning to take part in a program upon the invitation of Nepal-India Women Friendship Society.
Thakur and Mahato removed from central committee
According to sources, TMDP central member Chanda Chaudhary-led Nepal-India Women Friendship Society is organizing the program in a bid to pressurize the Nepal government on the issues of Madhes.
A total of 13 people including politicians and rights activists from Nepal have been invited to the program. Rights activists Daman Dhungana and Bijay Lal Karna are also taking part in the program. The TMDP leaders are scheduled to hold talks with top Indian leaders during their India trip.
All the Madhes-based parties except Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party were invited to the program. Despite the invitation, Sadbhawana Party leader Rajendra Mahato did not go to New Delhi.
