Madhesh province assembly passes budget amid opposition’s boycott

DHANUSHA, July 15: The Madhesh province assembly passed the budget for the upcoming fiscal year (FY) 2025/26 on Monday.

The provincial assembly's majority of votes approved the budget on Monday amid the boycott from the opposition parties.

The opposition parties in the Madhes province assembly boycotted the meeting, charging the provincial government with committing fiscal crime.

The opposition lawmakers were adamant in their demand for the resignation of the finance minister and the new budget from the new finance minister.

Finance Minister Sunil Yadav had tabled the budget of Rs 46.98 billion for the upcoming FY on June 15.

The opposition lawmakers and some of the ruling party lawmakers also protested the budget allocation, citing some issues in the budget, including the absence of a page.
