Leaders Prakashman Singh and Ram Sharana Mahat, close to Poudel, met NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Thursday seeking his favor for Poudel.
The leaders requested the NC President to lend his support to Poudel to keep the party intact.
In response, Deuba said that he will consult with other leaders of the party and reach a decision.
Stressing that he is for keeping the party intact, Deuba said, “I will reach a conclusion after discussions than deciding in a hurry.”
Earlier today, leader Poudel, General Secretary Shashanka Koirala, Dilendra Prasad Badu, Singh and Mahat held a meeting at Maharajgung.
The meeting decided to request Deuba to support Poudel in the election for the parliamentary party leader and start preparing for the election.
On Wednesday, NC President Deuba had gone to meet Paudel seeking his support for the post of the parliamentary party leader. Surprisingly during the meet, Paudel had asked Deuba to support him instead.
