Last group of Nepali Muslims leaves for Hajj

KATHMANDU, Oct 24: The last group of Nepali Muslims comprising 78 members left Kathmandu on Monday for the annual Hajj pilgrimage to the holy cities of Mecca and Medina in Saudi Arabia.



Forest and Soil Conservation Minister Wakil Musalman bid fair well to the pilgrims at the Tribhuvan International Airport Monday afternoon. [break]



The Nepali pilgrims are accompanied by a team of three doctors. Additionally, six members from the Central Hajj Committee have also joined the team of pilgrims.



According to the Central Hajj Committee formed under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA), altogether 866 Nepali Muslims are going to take part in this year´s Hajj pilgrimage.



The Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam which, according to Quran, must be carried out by the Muslims at least once in a lifetime.



Hajj falls in between 8th to 12th days of the 12th or final month of the Islamic calendar Dhu al-Hijjah.
