The tourism business in the district is badly affected due to the traffic disruption along the highway for three weeks. Generally, tourists from India and other countries visit the district from mid-April to mid-July to worship in Muktinath Temple and take a holy bath in Kagbeni.
Chairman of Association of Hotel Entrepreneurs, Mustang, Khagendra Tulachan said that the hotels here have witnessed sharp decline in business after the devastating April 25 earthquake. He, however, said that the number of tourists and pilgrims is increasing gradually.
Direct bus service is disrupted due to landslides in Marpha, Rupse, Tiblyang and Baisari along the highway. Tourism entrepreneurs said weather condition has also not supported though some Indians and tourists from the third countries have arrived in Mustang via Pokhara-Jomsom air route.
Chairman of Mustang Jeep and Bus Service Jayandra Thakali said that the passengers should change the vehicles in three different points during the travel of the 72-km route. He said that Nepal Army personnel repaired the damaged road in Marpha but the risk still continuous.
Likewise, the Department of Roads is also working to clear the obstacles in different sections but the workers' efforts are not smooth due to rainy season. RSS
